I have never seen any ads or announcements for the model 711.  What Columbia appeared to do in 1928 was to increment the model number and make a very slight change to the model 710.  My guess is that the price was unchanged from the 710, at $175.00.  It is doubtful that many were made, since everyone wanted an electric phonograph by this time.

I think that the main difference between the 710 and the 711 lies in the motor board. The 710 had a wooden motor board, and the 711 has a metal one. This machine has a triple spring motor.

When I purchased this machine, it was missing the grille. I just assumed I would not find one, and would end up making one. Believe it or not, I found one immediately from George Vollema at Great Lakes Antique Phonograph. I have completely restored this machine.
