Columbia Grafonola Model 110

Introduced in 1915at a cost of $110.00, Columbia's Model 110 Grafonola was a step up from one of their lower-cost models: in this case, the Grafonola 100. The difference between the two was that the 110 contained Columbia's fancy Individual Record Ejector System, with storage for 45 records.

This machine is in remarkably good condition! That's the original velour on the turntable platter, in excellent condition. As with many of Columbia's machines, the 110 features nickel plated hardware, four sunken needle cups, a bayonet-joint tone arm, and a Columbia #6 reproducer. The reproducer on this machine has been rebuilt and tuned, and sounds wonderful. The tone-arm elbow is an exact reproduction of the original. The motor runs great - nice and quiet, and very strong; it will easily sail through several 78's on a full winding.

The oak is simply magnificent. There was some minor water damage to the lower left side of the cabinet, which we have fixed. It still retains all of the original veneer, and the beautiful carved corner columns really make this an eye-catching machine!

The original decal found under the lid.

Top of the lid - the nicest we have ever come across. Original and pristine.

Here's a nice view of the Record Ejector System. The record dividers are lined with velour, and serve to cushion the records as well as to clean them when they are ejected. Simply push one of the numbered buttons along the top of the records and the record of your choice slides out and gets cleaned in the process. Ingenious!

Since the Victor Phonograph Company held the patent on doors that covered the horn and served as the volume control, other phonograph makers were forced to find other means of making the music louder and softer. Columbia's solution was the "tone-control leaves", which in this case are opened and closed by a control knob on the right side of the cabinet. Yet another ingenious idea from Columbia!

The dimensions of the cabinet are 45" high, 19" wide, and 22" deep. Weight is estimated at approx. 90 pounds.
